A man who was part of a dive group on the 50-foot Gypsyblood was injured in a diving accident in the ocean off Point Pleasant Beach on Friday afternoon.

The boat was 15 miles off Point Pleasant Beach when he began experiencing problems under water. A U.S. Coast Guard boat had arrived while people on the Gypsyblood were already performing CPR on the man. Two Coast Guard crew members continued to perform life-saving measures for the remainder of the return trip.

The diver was eventually rushed by ambulance to Ocean Medical Center in Brick. Investigators were planning to retrieve the victim’s dive computer to help them determine the cause of the accident.
