Plexiglass Factory Fire Fueled by Combustibles

Posted on: August 24, 2021

A fire at a plexiglass factory was fueled by combustibles on Tuesday morning in Jersey City.

The Acrilex Factory fire, which was first reported Monday afternoon, was a two-alarm blaze and extinguished Monday afternoon, then firefighters left. Fire fighters were called back to the location early Tuesday morning and it had become a three-alarm blaze. The crew there called in for additional help and spent several hours putting it out.

No injuries were reported. The fire’s cause is under investigation. The Hazardous Materials Unit for the fire department said air samples taken at the scene came back negative for toxins.

Defective products, or products that the user has not adequately been informed about, can cause problems anywhere, but in a factory setting, those problems can be disastrous to human life.
