Head-On Collision in Upper Freehold Township Kills 79-Year-Old Manalapan Woman

On Sept. 17, a driver was killed and another was seriously injured in a head-on collision in Upper Freehold Township. According to New Jersey State Police, the accident occurred when the Jeep driver traveling west on Route 537 crossed over the double yellow line to pass vehicles in front of him. The Jeep crashed into an eastbound SUV at approximately 2:50 p.m. on Sunday afternoon.

A 79-year-old woman from Manalapan was driving the SUV and suffered fatal injuries in the crash. The driver of the Jeep, a 23-year-old man from Rumson, was hospitalized with severe injuries. According to authorities, the head-on collision happened at milepost 34.4 and remains under investigation.
