Pedestrian Killed by Police Car in East Brunswick

A 55-year old pedestrian was struck by a police car around 3:30 a.m. Sunday on Route 18 in East Brunswick. He was brought to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital and pronounced dead from his injuries less than an hour later.

The accident occurred when the 55-year old Edison resident was crossing Route 18 and an East Brunswick police patrol vehicle was heading northbound in response to a car accident.

The state Attorney General’s Office investigates the pedestrian’s death, which investigates deaths that happen during encounters with law enforcement officers.
