A truck driver was rescued from the cab of a box truck following a collision off Route 32 South Brunswick on Friday.
The driver, a 20-year old Ocean Township resident, became trapped in the cab after colliding with a tractor trailer that was stopped on the shoulder of Route 32 at the entrance to the NJ Turnpike. The impact pushed the tractor trailer forward and crushed the box truck cab, police said.
Route 32 East was closed for 45 minutes as first responders extricated the box truck driver. He was brought to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick with serious, but non-life threatening injuries.
