Two Killed in Multi-Vehicle Crash on Garden State Parkway in Toms River

On Saturday, two women were killed, and another was seriously wounded in a multi-vehicle crash on the Garden State Parkway in Toms River. According to New Jersey State Police, the crash occurred in the northbound lanes near milepost 87. 

A Freightliner tractor-trailer was stopped behind a disabled Genesis in the center lane. Police said the driver of a northbound Honda struck the rear of the tractor-trailer and ran off the road to the right down a grassy embankment. A second northbound vehicle, a Ford SUV, then also struck the rear of the tractor-trailer, police said.

The Honda driver and a passenger in the Ford SUV were both killed in the collisions. The Ford’s driver sustained serious injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital. The tractor-trailer driver suffered minor injuries. No others were reported.
